Ceramics is a project based class for beginners and AP 3D studio art students. Students will learn fundamental throwing, hand-building and  surface treatment for utilitarian and sculptural clay objects.  Students will learn various ways to sculpt clay such as pinch, coil build, soft and leather-hard construction, additive and subtractive methods and throwing on the pottery wheel.  Students will learn a variety of surface treatments.  Each ceramic assignment is embedded with historical and cultural context and differentiated so all students can work to their potential.
